Having nestled in heavenly Sahyadris, In monsoon, the Shivthar Ghal is surrounded by hundreds of small and big waterfalls, lush green mountains and is often covered by the clouds. apart from its scenic beauty the place also holds great significance in the pages of history, Shivtharghal is the same cave where Samarth Ramdas Swami stayed for 22 years and dictated "Dasbodha". Truly divinity hidden in the mountains.
This Gushing waterfall wows visitors on this remote countryside paradise. You feel lost in the beauty of the nature during the entire mountainous drive. you can experience peaceful and divine beauty sitting by the waterfall in the cave.

Inside the Cave at Shivtharghal |
We started from Pune at 9.00 am - took as small break at Shirwal for hot Misal and wada Pav. - Turned right from highway at Narayanpur and took road to Bhor which leads to Varandha Ghat. towards the end of ghat one can see a big board directing to shivtharghal. Distance from Varandha to Shivthargal is about 6 kms and this patch of road is not so good but for a person like me who just loves off-roading this adds to little adventure. For family travelers there is one more option of less risky road.
Enroute Shivthar Gal |
On the way back we soaked our selves under the waterfall and clicked some pics for memories of the trip. (Since i had not carried any extra cloths i drove back home in wet cloths feeling the chill in all the right and wrong places... Lols.)
Our car for this drive was Sandy's Fiat Punto, the drive on the serpentine roads in the ghat was super fun thanks to sandeeps driving and Puntos fantastic ride quality.
