KANIFNATH TEMPLE

(Kanifnath Temple)

To enter the main temple one has to crawl through the small cave opening of less than 1 ft x 1 ft. Since I was little apprehensive about entering into this small square frame, the priest advised me to wait and watch fat people enter to seek blessing. I agreed. (I couldn’t take the picture of the cave opening as photography at this point is prohibited, and I don’t break the rules when it comes to God).

After about 10 minutes later I saw priest helping a fat man enter the cave. The whole experience and to watch fat person make it was just seemed miraculous.

One has to remove shirts, belts, watch etc before entering. Pants must stay. One must crawl with their head in first and while coming out the legs should come out first. Belief says you should compulsorily face the lord while entry and exit. Women are not allowed to enter the temple.
