GHORWADESHWAR TEMPLE & CAVES

 I have traveled old Pune – Mumbai Highway many times and was always curious about the steps before Somatne Phata toll that lead to the mountain. , today i decided to climb up these steps and trek this small mountain.

 While parking my bike at the base least did I expect that this small trek would lead me to explore so serene, extraordinary and after monsoon picturesque treasure.

           Once there you find ancient Buddhist caves carved out of single rock formation.  According to Archeologist these date back to 3^rd / 4^th Century and now are protected monument.

Every cave has small meditation rooms inside. I decided to sit in the one of the rooms and feel the experience and clicked the picture of the view from these rooms, needless to say it could only be felt and cannot be pen down.

There are two Ghorwadeshwar temples in the caves. We offered our prayers at the temple and moved on to climb the rock to visit the second temple at the higher level. Second temple has beautifully carved pillars inside the caves and “Shivalinga” with “Sheshnag”.
